“We are delighted that Egil Hogna has agreed to become Norconsult’s new CEO. His experience and expertise from a number of executive positions in Norwegian and international enterprises will be extremely valuable for the company’s further development in the years ahead. As CEO at Sapa and EVP at Hydro, Egil has achieved impressive results by boosting both competitiveness and customer focus in markets characterised by fierce international competition and demanding technical standards. In addition, his personality and style of leadership is a perfect match for Norconsult’s culture,” says chairman of the board Roar Engeland.

Hogna is currently EVP for Hydro’s business area Extruded Solutions. He was previously President and CEO of Sapa, which was acquired by Hydro in 2017. Extruded Solutions (formerly Sapa) has currently approximately 22 000 employees and a turnover of 60 billion Norwegian kroner. Extruded Solutions has 140 production sites and a leading R&D capability, covering 40 countries.

He has also held several management positions at Yara, including head of Yara’s downstream activities (R&D, distribution and sales) and CFO. He holds an MSc from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) and an MBA from INSEAD. He has also undertaken the Advanced Management Program at Harvard.

“This was an opportunity I simply couldn’t say no to,” says Mr. Hogna. “I am looking forward to leading Norconsult and its 4,300 highly competent knowledge workers, building on the company’s strong organisational culture. With outstanding engineering and architectural solutions, advanced technology and modern forms of collaborative working, Norconsult contributes to the advancement of society. I am really looking forward to helping to further develop the company and reinforce Norconsult’s already strong position.”

Norconsult is Norway’s largest, and one of the Nordic region’s leading, interdisciplinary consultancy firms within community planning, engineering design, and architecture. For many years, the company has delivered strong financial results, and its strategy is to provide customer value through its leading technical expertise, cutting-edge technology, sustainability and partnership. Each year, Norconsult engages in over 20,000 different projects and has established a firm presence in the Nordic market. Over the course of last year alone, Norconsult welcomed 800 new employees on board.

At the beginning of this year, CEO Per Kristian Jacobsen informed Norconsult’s board of directors that he wished to step down towards the end of 2020. Mr. Jacobsen has held the position of CEO for almost seven years, in addition to eight years serving as the company’s chairman of the board. He has thus played a vital and central role in Norconsult’s continued development. Mr. Jacobsen will remain in the position until the end of 2020 and will continue to be available to support the board and the new CEO until July 2021.
