Since its inception in 1995, Zimbabwe has been at the core of trade along the central corridor linking the northern parts of the SAPP with the main load and generation hub in South Africa. Norconsult has for a long period been supporting ZETDC in developing the transmission grid in Zimbabwe and was engaged to support ZETDC on a feasibility study for the said project.

rozwiązanie

The study initially reviewed demand forecasts for the region and through a comprehensive Market Study identified potential trade resulting from the proposed reinforcement of the grid. This study was supported by detailed transmission system analysis to establish transfer and wheeling limits on the grid in Zimbabwe and on interconnections to its neighbours. The robustness of the project was furthermore assessed for different regional development scenarios and also accounted for other transmission projects, including domestic projects and reinforcement of links to neighbouring utilities.

The assignment also covered preparation of technical specifications and bidding documents for the new transmission line and extension of existing substation. Support on the selection of an EPC contractor included bid evaluation, contract negotiations and preparation of contract documents.

Norconsult and the team of advisers also provided support on procurement and transaction advisory services, including legal and financial support up to Financial Close.
